100 years of history

Hotel Central is located in a building dating from the 1920s, in the center of Geneva, at the foot of the old town. The hotel was run by the Payn family for several generations. The Gangsted family took over in January 1999, continuing its family hotel heritage

Christine and Erik Gangsted are both graduates of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and worked for several years in managerial positions in luxury hotels in Asia. They missed Europe and decided to come back to create their own business together. They discovered the charming little Hotel Central and immediately fell in love with it. After several years and a lot of love, the hotel has grown to now have 29 rooms, 7 apartments and a total of 100 beds.

Today their two children, Kristoffer and Jenna, who studied at hotel schools, also participate in the family business.

How can you reach Hôtel Central from Geneva Airport without a car?

Geneva city centre is easily accessible from the airport by public transport, and the hotel is located just a short walk from the main city-centre stops.
